David Scarbeary, CFA

Background
David Scarbeary most recently served as Director Finance for SilverPlume, a division of Vertafore Inc., a software business focused on independent insurance agencies.  At DIRECTV David handled Financial Planning & Analysis for all five owned and operated call centers with over 5,000 total employees. As CFO, COO & Vice President at Advanced Learning Centers, an education consulting and publishing company helping public school districts and state departments of education create systems for standards, assessment and accountability.

Prior to joining the Center, David worked six years in the Telecommunications and Technology industries helping drive value creation and new innovations while serving as internal CFO and Director of Finance and other key finance and marketing roles at Qwest, Qwest Cyber Solutions, Time Warner Telecom and US West. David started his business career with TOTAL in the United States and then TOTAL Great Britain with eleven years of increasing responsibility including the positions of Marketing Planning Manager, Property Manager, Pricing Analyst, Internal Audit Coordinator, and Retail Systems Supervisor.

Education & Professional Development
David is a CFA charterholder with an MA in Economics from the University of Colorado and received a BS in International Business and Marketing from University of Colorado. An avid supporter of professional development, David has completed leadership and professional development programs such as the Leadership Development Program (LDP) at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL); the Management Development Programme at Henley Management College, England; and the Dale Carnegie core program Human Resources and Public Speaking.

Military Service
To help provide for his college tuition, David volunteered for the Air Force and served as a Radio Communications Analyst (aka Intelligence Analyst). David’s enlisted service was distinguished with the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal. Over a period of six years he was assigned to the 6917th ESS San Vito Italy, 6948th ESS Mobile at San Antonio, TX, and the ASAF Intelligence Service Reserve. David also contributed as an airborne crew member on AWACS in the role of Middle East area specialist operating out of Riyadh Saudi Arabia; and on reserve temporary duty assignment to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Central American Joint Intelligence Task Force at the Pentagon.

Volunteer
David supported his children’s’ school as a volunteer Treasurer and Trustee at Stanley British Primary School (BPS) for eight years. In addition, David has enjoyed teaching Junior Achievement courses each of the past seven years.
